Glossy Box Unboxing May '13

2nd anniversary box

So basically the time of the month came again, guess what arrived. You guessed right it was my glossy box, yaaay! But it wasn't any old glossy box this month, it was the 2 year anniversary box. To be totally honest, I did think that this box would contain a lot more than it did. As it was the 2nd anniversary box I expected big things. Bigger or even higher end products. But overall its still a good box and I did enjoy all products that were in it this month.

So this is what the box looked like when it arrived. The packaging is yet again lovely, its simple but effective. The only thing different about this box, is that you got a free pack of 'Glossy Box' nail files. Which is rather exciting!

Products in this box:
L'Occitane - Hydration Cream
Jelly Pong Pong - Fairy Lashes Mascara
Beautiful Movements - Prime & Create
Headline Colours - in shade Belladonna
Caudalie - Divine Oil (Body, Hair and Face)
Packet of Glossy Box Nail Files

This is the L'Occitane Hydration Cream, this claims to instantly and lastingly moisturise and revitalize the skin. I haven't heard much about this product but I have the brand. If this products does enough to my skin I will come back and review it on here as well. You can pick up this product online at www.uk.loccitane.com

This nail polish is easy and simple, it is easy to apply and simple to give you that pop of colour that your outfit may need. It would work better if you were to give your clean nails two coats. This will ensure that the colour is completely opaque. You can buy this product online at www.headlinecolours.com
This primer is relatively new on the market, it claims to give your skin a matte shine free base for make up application. You can mix this with products such as, foundations to make a airbrushed effect, blushes and bronzers to create cream products. You can buy this product at www.beautifulmovementscosmetics.com
These nail files came with the Glossy Box, my guess is, is that they are the 'Thank you' From the company.
This mascara claims to be long lasting and feather light. It also claims to be water-resistant. To me the mascara wand looks a little cheap and tacky. It just doesn't look like it will do much to my lashes the bristles are spaced quite far apart. But I guess I will see what its like when using it.  You can buy this product at www.jellypongpong.com

This product has to be the one that gives me the most excitement. You can use this in many ways. You can put this in your hot bath, you can use it on you nails, hair, face, body, you can also use this as a massage oil. You can buy this product at www.caudalie.com

Basically although when I first got this box I was a little disappointed with the con tense I have grown to realise that the con tense it quite good, I am looking forward to trying all of there products out even if they don't work for me at least I'll know. You can order your Glossy Box on www.Glossybox.com

Ombre nails spring/summer

DIY : Ombre nail tutorial

I did this ombre on my nails last night and I have had a request to do a blog post about them, its pretty simple when you know what you're doing.

You will need the following products:
Scissors
Tape
3 nail colour shades for the 'ombre' part
a shade of white for base coat
Top coat of your choice
sponge (any sponge will do, make up sponge, car washing sponge or a sponge that you was dishes with.)
Nail varnish remover

Before you start you will have to take the sponge and cut it so that it is about the right size, to fit onto all nails. You will also have to make sure that you have selected 3 colours for you're ombre, you can choose two but I would recommend that you use three as it will make the ombre flow better. If you were to use two you will be able to see a line between the two colours. Also you may want to either put a coating of Vaseline on the skin around your nails, this will help with the clean up afterwards. If you don't use Vaseline you could also use masking tape on the skin this will also help to protect the skin around your nails and make the clean up quicker.

Step one - I first took some nail polish remover just to remove my old colour and to ensure that my nails were completely natural.

Step Two - I then put two coats of collection 2000 5 day wear manicure white on my nails, you don't have to do this step but you will find that putting white under this will help the colours pop, you will find this with any bright nail polish. (make sure you let this dry completely before moving onto step three.)

Step Three - This is the exciting bit, you will need to take the sponge that you cut at the beginning  with this you will need to take the three nail colours that you choose. With this you will need to start by applying the colour that you want near your cuticle on to the end of the sponge (I applied my yellow here) after this i applied the light pink next to the yellow. You will then need to apply the darker shade you have chosen next to the middle shade. I applied these all in a straight line but how you do this doesn't matter.

Step Four - After you have let the polish soak into the sponge for about 10 seconds, you will be ready to go. You will need to place the sponge on your nails dabbing it as you go, the first layer will look pretty weird and not really ombre at all. For the better ombre look you will need to do a lot of coats on each finger. You will need to keep reapplying the polish to the sponge as and when you need it.

Step five - When you are satisfied that your ombre looks how you expected and you are happy with it, You will need to apply a top coat this will just keep the ombre on your nails longer. Also will prevent the ombre chipping.

Step six - This step is only relevant to you if you used masking tape to protect the skin, you will need to remove this tape before all polish dries to prevent the tape damaging you beautiful nails.

The products i used to create my ombre nails were
Polishes
Top shop - Beach shack (yellow)
Top shop - High voltage (hot pink)
Avon speed dry - asap pink (light pink)
Top coat - Sally Hansen quick dry
Base coat - Collection 2000 5 day wear - manicure white
Car sponge
Masking tape
Scissors

Then you will need to sit back and admire your work

Glossy Box Unboxing April '13

So today was an exciting day I got home from work, as I approached my front door there was a package. This months Glossy Box had arrived, for such a small box it holds a lot of excitement for me. I love receiving a Glossy Box it feels like a present even though it isn't but you get the gist, unwrapping and the not knowing what's inside.
When my box arrived it looked like this.
Personally I think this looks beautiful but that's probably because I have a crazy obsession with floral patterns and prints. The packaging is amazing beautiful design, sleek look and feel, very feminine. Then i took the lid of, wow because this wasn't expected...(this is my sarcastic side creeping in sorry)
the inside is beautifully wrapped, this is what I mean't about it feeling like a present, well it does for me anyway.
This is what my Glossy Box looked like when I completely opened it. It contained 5 products, lip products, nail products, perfume, body butter and facial skincare products.
This is a product by 'Dermalogica' it is a Daily Microfoliant, this product claims to gently exfoliate the skin for ultimate smoothness and brightening. You would use this product after cleansing by dispensing the powdered formula onto wet hands, with this you will then create a creamy paste and then smooth onto skin. Moving your hands around your face in circular motions exfoliating away all the dead skin cells. I can't wait to use this product. If buying this product full size it will cost you £40.30 for a 75g size.

This is a nail polish made by a company called Essie, you can buy their polishes in UK drug stores such as Boots or Superdrug. The colour of this nail polish is Penny Talk. I can't wait to put this on my nails, as in the bottle it looks like such a lovely colour. Even the name is cute, i have heard a lot about Essie nail polishes but i have not yet purchased one as i thought that they were quite expensive compared to other brands. Normally i would sway towards buying a Models Own nail polish just because they are £5.00 where as Essie Nail polishes are £7.99. I guess i will make up my mind after i have tried this polish.

This is a perfume by 'YVES ROCHER FRANCE' its called So Elixir Purple. The packaging of this product is very simple, but effective and easy on the eye. This perfume is described to as, 'Reveal your seductive power with an incredibly feminine, floral-woody elixir.' This sent it lovely it smells like a wonderful spring scent, its florally to me it just smells like a tiny bottle of spring. This product is £44 for a 50ml bottle.
This product is my favourite in the box, its 'Nip + Fab' Coconut latte, dry skin fixing body butter. Oh my this smells amazing I would be quite happy just to smell this all the time. It smells obviously like coconuts, but with a slight twist and I can't quite work out what the twist is. The product claims to repair dry skin and give your skin a 24hr boost because it contains the ingredient 'Aquaxl' This product's aim it to fix all your dry skin problems. You would apply this product all over you body after a shower or bath onto towel dried skin. I cannot wait to use this product!!! I'm super excited about this!

This last product is something that i have never really heard anything about before, this is the 'Lipcote' Lipstick sealer. You would normally wear this product over you favourite lipstick. It claims that it lasts for hours. But obviously I personally haven't put this product to the test yet. You would apply you lipstick, pat it with tissue reapply the lipstick pat with a tissue again then you would apply the Lipcote. You would have to keep your lips apart until the Lipcote dries and then you are ready to go.

Thank you for reading, I will see you all very soon
Lots of love

April Favourites

Well hello there bloggers world, as this is my first post I thought I would do a April favourites  as I thought that this would less complicated than another post. Many of these products I have recently purchased and others I have rediscovered due to the warmer weather. In this post there are a number of products that will be making an appearance from make up, body products and hair products.

Benefit - They're Real mascara
I have had this mascara a couple of months, but this month I have really seen its true colours. I don't normally like the 'rubber/plastic type brushes' as i feel that they can be quite harsh on the lashes. But the formula is unlike any other, it lasts all day and doesn't smudge. As I find this a problem especially with my bottom lashes. The packaging makes the product look high end but with out the high end price tag. I have this mascara in shade black

Rimmel - Wake me up foundation
This product has recently crept back into my make up bag, this is a wonderful foundation for the spring/summer months. I loved this foundation during summer 2012 and I believe that I am going to fall in love with this product all over again in 2013. This foundation has been described, to have a Anti-fatigue effect and radiant glow. I believe that this product gives me a radiant glow, the foundation itself is slightly shimmery. Don't worry its only slight so you won't look like a disco ball. As I have a combination to oily skin what ever foundation I use I need to powder my T-zone. This give you a healthy glow and has a SPF of 15 which is brilliant. I have this foundation in shade 103 True ivory, although when I have a better tan I will have to move onto a darker colour. Over all I believe this is a wonderful, it has been ranted and raved about many times and there are many reasons why. This foundation overall is AMAZING. p.s it even is scented which I love. But if you don't like fragranced  products I wouldn't recommend this. This foundation is light to medium coverage it is also quite buildable.

La Roche-Posay - Hydreane Riche
Basically I discovered this brand though another one of their products that has been raved about, its the Effaclar Duo which I thought was wonderful. I was in Boots having a look through their range of products I needed a new daily moisturiser saw this and thought it would be brilliant. I was right it is. This product cost about £14.99 I believe (I might be wrong) this is quite steep but as I got on so well with the Effaclar Duo I thought I'd give it a go. This products indicates that it will help with the hydration of sensitive skin, although I don't have overly sensitive skin I jumped in and bought it anyway. The Hydreane Riche moisturising cream just soaks into my skin. its not greasy at all doesn't hang around on your skin for ages. You can apply make up straight onto it if you are in a rush and I just think its wonderful.

Lush - Mint Julips (lip scrub)
This product is amazing, you basically put it on your lips and using it as an exfoliator, you exfoliate your lips. This is a brilliant product, I have been using this every morning before I do my make up. The brilliant thing about it is that once done. You can lick the product of your lips. It is a sugar scrub flavoured Mint chocolate. It leaves me with no more dead skin, after using this product I usually follow up by using a lip balm to try and put the moisture back into my lips.

Maybelline New York - Coloursensational Popsticks
I have had my eye on this product for about 4 months, I was shopping with a friend a while ago and I mentioned that I like the look of this product, She went on to tell me that it was 'rubbish' and that it was a waste of money. I was shopping alone about a month ago when I saw this product again, It was on sale. I had to get it, turn out I love it. Its a balm type product but its also gives your lips colour. I absolutely love this I bought this in shade 080 Cherry pop and this colour is amazing on my the colour pay of is brilliant. This has been my go to lip product of April I have used this almost everyday. You can used it as part of a everyday make up look or for going on a night out. I believe that this will be a lip product that will be in my make up bag for most of spring and summer.

Tangle Teezer - The Original (disco purple)
This hair brush is amazing, i have long hair and brushing it is a nightmare sometimes. After i have washed it, its at its worst. Trying to use any other hairbrush makes me feel as though I am destroying my hair and breaking it. This brush doesn't tug at my hair like others do. It gentle passes through my hair with out damaging or breaking it. After using this brush its hard to use any other. I would really recommend this brush to anyone. Long or short hair this brush will work a treat.

well guys i really hope you enjoy this post, its my first so
it may need a little adjusting here or there but oh well.
